Welcome to the Swimathon Foundation

Welcome to the Swimathon Foundation - the charity behind the world’s biggest swim.

  • Swimathon is the world’s biggest fundraising swimming event.
  • It takes place every April in hundreds of pools across the UK.
  • Now in its 26th year, more than half a million swimmers have taken part - swimming the equivalent of 25 times around the world and raising over £36 million for charity.
  • The latest event inspired 20,000 people to dive into 515 pools, to raise an astonishing £2 million.
  • The event motivates thousands of people each year to jump into the water and continue to swim regularly.

Each year, Swimathon raises funds for a nominated charity - which has included Macmillan Cancer support, NSPCC, The British Heart Foundation, The Prince’s Trust and, most recently, Marie Curie Cancer Care - and the Swimathon Foundation.

The Foundation offers grants to organisations and individuals who provide and promote swimming to their local community. It’s proven that taking regular exercise can improve health and wellbeing. Sometimes a little extra funding can help take this message to a lot more people.
