Between 16-19 April, the world's biggest swim took place in over 500 swimming pools. Swimmers took to the water to fundraise for Marie Curie Cancer Care and The Swimathon Foundation. Swimathon 2009 saw thousands swim further, faster or for longer than ever before for charity.

Thank you to all the swimmers, donors, supporters and pools who made Swimathon 2009 such a special event.

Every £20 raised will help Marie Curie Nurses to provide one hour of support to a terminally ill patient. This year, Marie Curie Cancer Care expects to provide care to around 27,000 terminally ill patients in the community and its hospices this year.
